How To Change Director’s Name In Sri Lanka
eople change their names for various reasons, from the name on their birth certificate to the name they currently use. Whatever the reason, the name on your National Identity Card (NIC) is your accepted legal name. It’s crucial to keep this name consistent on your company registration. With the development of the new eROC system and policy changes in the banking industry, this process has become more streamlined.
Your Profile at eROC
In the eROC platform, changing your name can be done through your personal login, since every director now has their own profile on eROC, it’s important to use a single email address for yourself. This links your name, email, and NIC number. Using multiple emails can create multiple profiles for you, which can complicate matters.
How to Change the Name at eROC
The general practice requires you to provide an affidavit that includes your current full name, NIC number, and old name, along with a declaration that you have changed your name and will be known by both the previous and new names. This affidavit must be attested by a Commissioner of Oaths or a Justice of the Peace to authenticate the name change.
Submission of the Affidavit to the Registrar General of Companies
This affidavit should be lodged with the Registrar General using Form 20, indicating the effective date of the name change. It must be submitted within 20 working days from the effective date of the change.
